New phone gadget allows you to “talk” through your ear

Tech giant Sanyo and a small company by the name of NS-ELEX have teamed up to produce what could well be the world’s first consumer in-ear microphone, the e-Mimi-Kun.

The gadget has a standard earphone speaker, with the real ground breaking development being the microphone which picks up the users’s voice through the Eustachian tube that connects your ear to your mouth.

The device connects to a small business card sized box that amplifies ingoing and outgoing sounds and uses Sanyo’s noise-canceling circuits to mute ambient sound.

The companies hope to target people who work in noisy environments such as construction workers, traffic cops and so forth.

The e-Mimi-Kun will be released in two models, the wired version, which connects to a cell phone via a standard 1/8-inch jack ($350), and a wireless Bluetooth version ($530).
