This is quite possibly the best gadget of this list. It allows you to copy your old VHS tapes directly to DVD. You can record to your harddrive, or bypass it and burn directly to DVD or CD. Just hook up the DVD Xpress to your computers USB port, plug the cords from your camcorder or video player in to the device and your ready to go. Requires a Pentium III processor and Windows 2000 or later.
These are a steal at Amazon for $75.

If you don’t know what Skype is, it’s a service that allows you to call anyone in the world, via your computer…for free! Yup, you don’t have to spend a cent! Of course, one of the drawbacks is your stuck at your computer for the entire conversation.
